Gorad Tool & Fixture Life · Production

Know the life left in every tool

Change tools on time, not too early and not too late. Every tool, die, mould and fixture is counted automatically from the machine, with a warning before it wears out and a record of every service.

The problem

Tool life is estimated, counters are reset by hand, and a die runs past its limit because nobody was watching the count.

Early access

Built and tested in software, not yet proven on a plant line. Available to pilot plants.

How it works

Tool & Fixture Life, step by step

  1. Mounted on Press 1Die D-12 is scanned onto Press 1. Every stroke from the press counter is added to the die.
  2. Moved to Press 2The die moves to Press 2 and keeps its count. Counts follow the tool, not the machine.
  3. Warning limitThe count passes the warning limit. The toolroom is alerted once, so service can be planned.
  4. Stop limitThe count passes the stop limit and stays latched until the die is serviced. Limits alert people; they do not stop the press.
  5. Serviced and resetA service record resets the count. The history and cost per part are kept.

What it does

What Tool & Fixture Life does

Counts follow the tool

Strokes belong to the tool mounted at that moment, multiplied by its cavities, and stay with it when it moves between presses.

Mount by scan

Mount, replace and move tools by scanning their QR code.

Warning and stop limits

Each limit alerts once and stays latched until a service resets it.

Exact history

Correcting a mount time later recomputes the counts exactly.

Cost per part

What each tool costs per part made.

Advantages

What changes with Tool & Fixture Life

An exact count per tool

Counts follow the tool from press to press, not the machine.

Service at the right time

A warning before the limit, and a stop alert at it.

No limit forgotten

Alerts stay on until the tool is serviced.

Mistakes can be corrected

Fix a mount time later and the counts are recalculated exactly.

Know the cost per part

What each tool really costs per part made.

Rules it keeps

Built to stay honest

These rules are part of the app, not settings.

  • Only the configured counter counts. Bad, stale or reset readings never do.
  • Mounts never overlap, on a machine or for a tool.
  • Limits alert people. They do not stop the press.

Questions

About Tool & Fixture Life

Where do the counts come from?

From the machine’s stroke or shot counter, read by Gorad Connect. Bad, stale or reset readings are never counted.

What about moulds with several cavities?

Each stroke is multiplied by the number of cavities, so tool life is counted in parts.

Will it stop the press at the limit?

No. Limits alert people; they do not stop the machine.

What if someone forgot to scan a tool when mounting it?

The mount can be entered afterwards, and it claims the strokes counted while it was missing.
