Packaging & logistics

A wrong label or a short count is found by your customer, not by you. Gorad reads labels and codes, counts items and holds the box until everything matches.

The challenge

What makes inspection hard here

  • Labels and codes are printed at speed and checked by eye, if at all
  • Many SKUs share a line, so the wrong label, insert or product is easy to pack
  • A wrong label, short count or loose cap means a returned shipment or a complaint
  • There is no record of what was checked before shipping
What we inspect

Typical checks

Codes and text

Labels, barcodes, date and lot codes, and pallet labels: present, readable and correct.

Presence and count

Items in the pack, inserts, caps and blister pockets: all there, and the right count.

Variant and orientation

The right SKU and label for the order, caps straight and seated, labels in the right place.

Defects and surface damage

Damaged carton corners, open flaps, foil and seal defects, and foreign objects in trays.

Measurement

Fill level in clear bottles and jars.

Pack contents

Wrong SKU, missing inserts and the right count in the pack.

Area scan, one or more cameras

Pallet and shipping labels

The right label on the right pallet before it leaves.

Area scan, code reading

Shrink-wrap and film inspection on continuous lines needs line-scan cameras, and certified barcode grading needs a dedicated verifier. Gorad’s code grade is indicative. Lines above 20 packs per second are outside today’s scope.
